SAFETY DESERVES
TO BE REWARDED

Insurance / Rewarding Safety

Nobody likes paying for others’ mistakes. And that’s how many aviation insurers have been doing business, with premiums rising and smart pilots going unrewarded for safety and training. Everyone benefits when aviation becomes safer. Pilots and owners do, with costs going down and premiums becoming predictable. We do, too, as risk and claims fall.

At 5X5, we’re building a better way by using data and following the advice of the many pilots and owners who shared input and frustrations. Our new, modern approach is good for business but also seeks to make flying more accessible because we, too, love taking to the skies.

A DATA-DRIVEN BETTER WAY

SAFE AND SMART PILOTS GET REWARDED

5X5 recognizes flight time, training and other safety practices in our underwriting. The greater a pilot’s commitment, the greater the discounts. Across five benchmarks, we recognize safe and smart pilots working hard to be better and safer.

Fly 75+ Hours Yearly
Hours count. Safer flying requires time, money and attention. Staying current and proficient shows you’re committed to keeping your skills at the highest level.

Commit to Training
Annual training is a minimum. We reward tailored training programs, but we don’t require a particular type because training differs across markets and people’s learning styles.

Participate in an Owners and Pilots Association
Associations keep everyone safer, and membership is the mark of a committed pilot. They reinforce professionalism and keep us current on safety, best practices and industry changes.

Hangar and Maintain Aircraft
Preventing aircraft damage reduces costs for you and everyone else. That’s why we reward pilots who hangar their aircraft and regularly perform maintenance to federal and manufacturer requirements at an FAA-certified repair shop.

Share Flight Performance
Modern aircraft systems evaluate each flight, identify areas to improve and score us against standards and fellow pilots. We encourage pilots to share flight data – so they and everyone else can improve. 5X5 is founded on transparency and safety, which is why we reward those opting into our data-sharing program.

HOW ABOUT THAT SAFETY DATA?

5X5 is bringing a new, tech-forward approach to an outdated industry. Our goal in collecting data is to help you – and us – get better and safer, reduce premium costs and improve coverage. Your flying data isn’t shared with anyone and is aggregated with data from other customers to analyze overall flight performance and identify areas affecting the safety of customers and their aircraft.

Aircraft with modern avionics like Garmin, Avidyne or Collins record flight data and are perfect candidates for the safety program.
